[Action; 1767 Beaver Street]

[Emperor moves where he is hovering not far above the floor. He is sleeping, but wakes up with a jerk. He doesn't know by what. He knows that it wasn't by any of the Code:Numbers though. Not by any Code:anything!

Looking around, he doesn't recognise his surroundings. Wait. That was weird. He couldn't notice Rei nearby. And since Rei had his arm, that was weird. He should always feel that bond with his host, shouldn't he?

He notices that he's hovering in the air, and tried to put his feet on the floor. It turns out impossible, though. Why can't he put his feet down? That's just ridiculus. He tries to see what was wrong with his feet for them not to be there, and sees... nothing. What?! There's got to be a mirror somewhere, right?

He finds one in the bathroom, and isn't at all happy with what he sees. Why is he back to being a fireball?!]

What's a drone? [Frowning fireball.] What's so horrible with this place? Besides being away from where you come from. Can't you just go back or something?

[Dist doesn't quite snort, but he comes close.]

You think I'd still be here if that were the case? There are a lot of us here, and we've all been trying to escape. No one's figured it out yet.

[Empreror takes the sort-of-snort as an insult. He's fuming, but when he would normally had been spitting fire all around right about now, nothing happens.]

[Nevermind that that wasn't what Dist had been talking about. Emperor has too short of a fuse.]

I don't know, what if I am? I've answered these questions hundreds of times before; maybe I just find them silly at this point.

[Yeah, it's hard for Dist to stay on track when he's been "challenged."]

[And maybe Rei and Rui. But definitely not this guy.]

[Dist waves a hand rather blithely, shrugging.]

[But with Heike having gone and let minister Fujiwara take control while he himself was sleeping, it wasn't really as much of a secret as it was back then.]

(ooc: But the drone-kids are probably still sleeping, so Dist wouldn't have noticed that they're still there, I guess?)

Head-on? We've tried that. Good luck with the Mayor or any of the Smiths, though; it would be interesting to see what a brainless sentient fireball is like.

[Seriously, he didn't know. He'd been stepped on as a fireball, but no one had ever poured water on him. But he doubted it would. His blue flame was something that could burn anything, and could not been put out (unless by a Rare Kind and they were few and far between). But who knew about this crazy place.]

Then why object so fiercely? Surely you're not afraid of an experiment?

[Well, technically, it's pretty true. Dist isn't going to admit it.]

What have you actually tried to do, child? Can't have been much if you just fail all the time.

[Dist is bristling. It's making his collar rustle like an irritated bird.]

This is a reality that they can modify, whenever they want. Try to walk out of town, you loop back to the other side. Flying out is the same. Go on the highway? Get mauled by bears. Spy? They know you're there, and you get gassed. Outright attack? You don't leave a mark. Act out too much and they drone you. What plan do you have that doesn't fit any of those categories?!

I don't care about any plans! If nothing else works, I'll burn the entire place down! And who'd be scared of mere bears?

You won't be able to burn it down! And you can't kill the bears!

[The bears are way scarier in person. Really.]

Sure I will! And why the hell wouldn't I be able to kill the bears? I can just make them burn until there's nothing left!
